Direct Placement Position
Provides service to evaluate design, generate test plans and procedures, conduct testing to verify compliance to a variety of standards on hardware components. This ensures a cost effective and reliable means of meeting design requirements for the life of the product.
Capabilities of the Material Process and Application Section involve the design and evaluation of:
Adhesion, Bonding and Encapsulation
Photography
Chemical Process Control
Metallography
Coatings, Paints and Plating
Connectors and Cables
Corrosion Prevention and Control
Polymer and Rubber Components in Structural Design and coatings
Job Description:
Primarily work with both design engineers and materials engineering peers on new hardware designs
Employ a functional knowledge of a wide variety of materials processes into a hardware design.
Lead team efforts or participate as a member of a design team representing the broad spectrum of materials engineering disciplines. Work with and direct technical support personnel in the use of a wide range of materials.
Coordinate testing and document results in validating new materials and processes for use on existing and new products.
Assist in the specification of material processes.
Work with limited supervision, and take ownership of project to achieve schedule, financial and technical goals as assigned.
Work with new programs managers and designers to review design concepts and validate.
Direct experience working product design and development; bringing product into full production
Must be self-motivated and possess good communication skills, particularly in documenting evaluation results.
Desire and ability to work as a team member is essential with demonstrated team leadership skills a definite plus
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Must possess basic understanding of primary material families such as metals, composites, ceramics, and polymers
Must be adaptable and willing to work varying assignments.
Must be customer focused and close out projects completely.
Desired Skills:
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Access/Project).
Working knowledge of Military and Commercial Materials and Process Specifications.
Knowledge of Design of Experiments, Six Sigma and statistical techniques.
Non-Destructive Testing Techniques.
Familiarity with proE design tools.
Knowledge of materials test methods.
Experience with Marine Systems, Corrosion, and Degradation
