Direct Placement Position
• The individual will serve as a FAA engineering designee (DER and / or AR). The individual will be responsible to review and approve type design data as prescribed by FAA regulations and orders. These documents include, but are not limited to, drawings, reports, and specifications. Travel may be required on occasion.
• The individual shall currently hold authorization (or have recent authorization) as a DER/AR/UM for Systems & Equipment – Electrical Equipment.
• The individual shall have an appropriate working knowledge of aircraft Electrical Systems system, possess a full knowledge of related disciplines and be able to apply extensive technical expertise.
• Avionics experience and delegation (partial or full) is also a plus. This person shall have the capability to develop technical solutions to complex Electrical problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. This person shall have the capabilities to be viewed within the Electrical Systems organization as an expert within the field and one that develops information that extends knowledge within the field. The individual should act independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with Electrical certification programs and continued airworthiness actions.
• The applicant represents HBC as the prime Electrical technical contact on FAA certification projects. The applicant interacts with senior external personnel (within and outside of HBC) on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
• The individual has to have the appropriate communication skills to effectively work with the Electrical Systems design staff to develop a certifiable design and to interface with the FAA advisor for timely resolution of certification and airworthiness issues.
• Work is checked only to the effectiveness of results obtained, typically requiring a long-term perspective. Work history will be reviewed by both HBC and FAA to evaluate designee’s effectiveness.
Preferred Skills:
Current UM and/or AR, and also DER is desirable
•Working knowledge of 14 CFR §§25 and 23.
•Experience in technical presentations.
•Minimum of 6 years Electrical Systems experience in a technical aviation field.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Project, and PowerPoint, MS Project is a plus.
•CATIA proficiency.
•Mentor Graphics or other related Wire/Harness design tool experience / knowledge a plus.
•Strong mentorship capabilities with other engineers in FAA compliance and certification
Education Required:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering
